Origin: in Excelsior, Minn., by Univ. of Minnesota Fruit Breeding Farm. Introd. in 1923. Shiro × Prunus americana 'Howard Yellow'; cross made in 1913; selected in 1920; tested as Minn. 120. Tree: very vigorous; upright-spreading. No longer recommended because it is a very shy bearer. Fruit: large; roundish; suture broad, shallow; skin thin, tough, yellow, bloom whitish, dots medium size; flesh yellow, firm, moderately juicy, subacid to tart; quality fair; stone small, cling; ripens medium late; keeps very well in cold storage.
