A low-chill requirement Japanese plum. Origin: Gainesville, Fla., by Wayne B. Sherman. Fourth generation open-pollinated seedling descended from Ozark Premier, Burbank, Beauty, and Bruce hybridized with pollen of Taiwan. Taiwan = Huang-ju open-pollinated. Selected in 1985; tested as Fla. 85-1; introduced in 1998. USPP 11,224. Assigned to Florida Foundation Seed Producers, Inc. Tree: vigorous, semi-spreading, cross fertile with Gulfruby, precocious and productive. Tolerant to bacterial spot, high resistance to leaf scald. Chilling requirement 250 h. Fruit: small, round; skin dark red; flesh pale yellow; cling; ripe early May in Florida 1 week before Gulfruby.
