Cultivation

A black-skin, yellow-flesh Japanese plum. Origin: Parlier, Calif., by D.W. Ramming, USDA–ARS. K183-69 =(Friar × Queen Rosa) o.p. made in 1983. Selected in 1986, tested as K506-87, rel. Feb. 2002. Tree: average vigor, upright; productive, self-infertile, blooming in midseason, with Blackamber. Fruit: large, 74 mm diameter, 200 g, oblate; skin is black with purple shoulders and waxy bloom; flesh light yellow, firm, medium texture; cling; ripe the last week of June to first week of July, 10 d before Friar.
