Characteristics

A shrub. It loses its leaves during the year. It grows up to 1.5 m high. The young branches are reddish-brown. The current year's growth is very slender. They are 1-2 mm wide. The leaves are narrowly oval and 3-4 cm long by 7-15 mm wide. The base is wedge shaped and there are teeth along the edge. The flowers are white and tinged with pink. There are 1-3 flowers from the side buds. The fruit are round and fleshy and 1.5 cm across. They are bright red and juicy and sweet.
