Origin: in Le Grand, Calif., by F.W. Anderson, Merced, Calif. Introd. in 1969. Plant patent 2894; 10 June 1969; assigned to Reedley Nursery, Reedley, Calif. Late Le Grand × unnamed seedling of Gold King. Tested as Anderson 23H890. Tree: large to medium; vigorous and spreading; productive and regular bearer; flowers large; leaf glands reniform. Fruit: large, uniform, globose; skin yellow, partially overspread with red; flesh yellow, clingstone; resembles Gold King, but distinguished by the absence of the red suture line, which ripens before the remainder of the fruit, has better shipping quality and longer shelf life, ripens 1 week later.
