Cultivation

Yellow-fleshed peach just ahead of Redhaven. Origin: chance seedling found in Issaquah, Washington by Margaret Proud in 1980. Assigned to Van Well Nursery. Introduced in 2003, USPPAF. Tree: flowers small, nonshowy, salmon pink, self-fertile. No glands. Tree medium size, medium vigor, productive. Chilling hours similar to Redhaven. Fruit: globose to slightly oblate, medium, dark purplish red to red. Flesh medium fi rm, softens first around suture, bright yellow, semi-freestone, some split pitting in cooler areas. Superior eating quality to Early Redhaven and Frost, comparable to Redhaven. Ripens just before Redhaven.
