Cultivation

Origin: in Davis, Calif., by L.D. Davis, Agr. Expt. Sta., Univ. of California, Davis. Introd. in 1971. Dix 22A-S (unnamed seedling) × Str 14-25B (Halford × Dixon l); cross made in 1955, first fruited in 1959, tested as D20-3E. Tree: size medium, upright; vigorous; highly productive; flower nonshowy; leaf glands globose. Named after the late Logan Bowen, a grower in Stanislaus County who had a long and distinctive association with the California canning peach industry. Fruit: size medium; truncated, symmetrical; skin yellow ground color with slight blush, excellent harvest color, pubescence moderate; flesh clear yellow, becoming slightly darker when fully mature, flavor excellent, clingstone; introduced because of superior flavor when canned; ripens late Dixon or early Cortez season.
