Origin: in Lawrence, Mich., by Lawrence B. Le Duke. Introd. in 1935. Plant patent 175; 28 Apr. 1936; assigned to Greening Nursery Co., Monroe, Mich. J.H. Hale mutation; discovered in 1927. Tree: self-fruitful; productive; vigorous; hardier than parent or Elberta; leaf glands reniform. Fruit: size of J.H. Hale; globular; skin an attractive yellow with a deep carmine blush, moderately thick, pubescence slight; flesh yellow, red at pit, juicy, tender, moderately firm, slightly stringy, quality pleasing, freestone.
