Cultivation

Origin: in Agr. Expt. Sta., Univ. of Florida, Gainesville, Fla., by R.H. Sharpe, W.B. Sherman, and R.E. Rouse as a joint release of Florida and Texas Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1984. Complex parentage of Florida selections. Cross made in 1963; selected in 1965; tested as Fla. 10-64. Tree: hardy; ripens 103 days from bloom; flower large, showy, self-fertile; leaf glands reniform; chilling requirement 50 h; tolerant to bacterial spot. Fruit: medium but large for season; skin 60% red overcolor with bright yellow ground color; flesh yellow, firm; freestone.
