Origin: in New Brunswick, N.J., by M.A. Blake, New Jersey Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1926. (Elberta × Greensboro) o.p.; the o.p. seed was harvested in 1920. Tree: sets heavily but is self-thinning, flower nonshowy, small; leaf glands reniform. Fruit: medium to large; oval to oblong, flattened; skin mottled bright red over onethird of surface, pubescence light; flesh yellow, red at pit, firm, melting, texture coarse, freestone; very good quality, average for canning and freezing; ripens 3 weeks before Elberta, first along suture, drops early from tree.
