Cultivation

Origin: in Eikenhof, near Johannesburg, South Africa, by J.A. Herholdt, Herholdt's Nurseries, Johannesburg. Introd. in 1967. Kakama × Amsterdam nectarine. Cross made in 1960, tested as H1779/60. Tree: large, upright, well-formed; vigor moderate; hardy; productive and regular bearer; tolerant to mildew; flower resembles Elberta. Fruit: large; roundish; skin orange-yellow, with red cheek; flesh yellow, red next to stone, fine-grained, sweet, aromatic; ripens 1 week later than Elberta; home garden and commercial variety.
