Cultivation

Origin: in Sebastopol, Calif., by Luther Burbank. Introd. in 1930. Plant patent 15; 15 Apr. 1932; assigned to Stark Bros. Nurseries & Orchards Co., Louisiana, Mo. Parentage unknown; selected about 1925. Tree: vigorous; highly fruitful; flower size medium, nonshowy; leaf glands reniform; susceptible to bacteriosis; chilling requirement 750 h. Fruit: size medium; round; skin dull red, blushed and streaked on greenish-yellow ground, pubescence heavy and dense; flesh yellow, only slightly red at pit, firm, melting, very good quality; pit small, free; ripens about 2 weeks before Elberta; ships very well.
