Origin: in Calhoun, Louisiana, by Charles E. Johnson. N. Louisiana Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1981. Redhaven o.p. × L61-2-26 (Redskin × Southern Glo). Cross made in 1965: tested as L65-10-63. Tree: vigorous, strong. consistent yielder; resistant to bacterial spot; flowers large, showy; leaf glands reniform; chilling requirement 80 to 850 hat or below 45F. Fruit: large. 3 1/4 inches in diam.; flesh excellent quality, firmness, and texture; freestone; resembles LaGold; late maturity, 15 to 20 days after Elberta.
