Cultivation

Origin: in Sacramento, Calif., by Edwin M. Wagner. Introd. in 1957. Plant patent 1623; 30 July 1957. Chance seedling; discovered in 1948. Tree: large; upright; vigorous; productive; flower very small, pink; leaf glands mostly globose. No longer commercially planted. Fruit: 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diam.; pronounced apex; flesh yellow, firm, tough; commercial canning clingstone; matures about 10 days later than Phillips Cling, which it resembles, or about 9-20 Sept. at place of origin; lasts well on tree.
