Cultivation

Origin: in Merced, Calif., on the Fancher Ranch by A.D. Shamel, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Riverside, Calif. Introd. in 1935. Probable Paloro o.p.; discovered in 1931. Tree: tendency toward faulty fruit set. No longer commercially planted. Fruit: flesh yellow; commercial canning clingstone; tendency to develop excessive blossom-end breakdown and split pits; resembles Paloro.
