Origin: in Zebulon, Ga., by P.M. Sullivan. Introd. in 1938. Elberta mutation; discovered in 1933. Tree: vigorous; leaf glands reniform; flower small, nonshowy, petals red, self-fruitful; chilling requirement of 850 h at or below 45F; more susceptible to bacteriosis than Elberta. Fruit: size medium; ovate, halves somewhat unequal, tip prominent, suture medium prominent; skin greenishyellow partially overlaid with red; flesh yellow, red at pit, firm, melting, quality good; ships well; ripens 7 days before Elberta, which it resembles.
