Origin: in Red Bluff, Calif., by Grant MerrIll. Introd. in 1961. Plant patent 2240; 12 Mar. 1963. Sunrise o.p.; discovered in 1957; selected in 1960. Tree: large; vigorous; medium upright; productive. Fruit: average 2 5/16 inches in diam.; oblong to globose; skin over-color more red than brown; flesh yellow, very firm, mild, very sweet, flavor good; slightly freestone when ripened off the tree; ships well; ripens about 5 days before Sunrise; resembles Sunbright I, colors slightly later, sugars earlier.
