Origin: in Fresno, Calif., by the Crops Res. Division, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Introd. in 1959. Alamar × Gold Dust; cross made in 1952; first fruited in 1956; tested as USDA F-69. Tree: vigorous, productive; flower large, self-fruitful, opening about with Elberta; leaf glands reniform; susceptible to bacterial spot disease. Fruit: large; round; at maturity two-thirds of skin covered with a bright, attractive red over a yellow ground color, pubescence light; flesh yellow, firm but melting, texture and flavor good, freestone; ripens about 10 days before Elberta and about 10 days after Redglobe and July Elberta; suitable for distant shipment.
