Origin: in Fresno, Calif., by Agr. Res. Serv., U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Introd. in 1974. [(Sunhigh × Southland) × (Southland × Hawaiian)] × [(Newday southland) × (Southland × Hawaiian)]. Cross made in 1958, selected in 1961 by John H. Weinberger, tested as 83-16. Tree: moderate vigor; productive; flower large, self-fertile, full bloom about 28 Feb. at Fresno; leaf glands reniform; chilling requirement 550 h. Fruit: size medium; round; skin yellow with three-fourths covered by red, attractive, light pubescence; flesh yellow, firm, texture smooth, flavor good; ripens in late June at Fresno.
