Origin: in Ontario, Calif., by George P. Weldon, Chaffey Junior College. Introd. in 1939. Babcock × [Elberta × (Elberta × Peento)]. Tree: highly resistant to delayed foliation; dependable producer. Variety now obsolete. Fruit: large, 2 3/8 to 3 inches in diam.; skin tough, yellow with reddish-pink blush, pubescence rather fine; flesh yellow, high quality, juicy, sweet, firm, some red near the pit, fine-grained, flavor good, freestone; ripens about 1 Aug., just after Babcock and just before Elberta.
