Prunus venosa Koehne

A medium sized tree. It loses its leaves during the year. The leaves are oblong or narrow and rounded at the base. They are shiny above and pale underneath. The flowers are cream and in long erect groups. The fruit is oval and red but becomes black when ripe.

It is a temperate or subtropical plant. It grows near the shaded banks of streams in moist locations. In the Himalayas it grows between 1,200-2,700 m above sea level.
