Erect woody herb or subshrub 0.4–1.5 m. tall.. Stems strongly ribbed, pubescent to velvety.. Leaflets lanceolate, elliptic or obovate-elhptic, 4–14 cm. long, 1.5–6.5 cm. wide, acute to rounded and mucronulate at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, subentire but usually broadly crenulate, rough above, pubescent to velvety beneath; petiole channelled, 0.5–4.5 cm. long; rhachis 0.4–2.3 cm. long; petiolules 2–7 mm. long; stipules 0.6–1.1 cm. long, 1–3 mm. wide, eventually falling.. Inflorescences narrow panicles 5–27 cm. long, composed of short dense false racemes 1–10 cm. long, the flowers mostly crowded in the upper parts; secondary peduncles 0–3 cm. long; pedicels 3–6 mm. long, at first erect, later reflexed; primary bracts lanceolate, 4–7 mm. long, 0.5–1 mm. wide, acuminate, persistent; secondary bracts filiform, 2–3 mm. long.. Corolla reddish-purple; standard rounded, 6–8 mm. long, 5 mm. wide.. Pods slightly curved, 0.7–2 cm. long, 3 mm. wide, 2–6-seeded, mostly densely pilose.. Seeds as in last species.. Fig. 69/10.
