Lowest leaves rarely unifoliolate but majority 3-foliolate; leaflets oblong-elliptic to linear-oblong, the lateral leaflets shorter, 2·5–10 cm. long, 0·6–2·5 cm. wide, rounded or slightly emarginate and mucronulate at the apex, cuneate at the base, sparsely bristly pubescent on both surfaces or glabrescent above and hairy beneath; venation raised beneath; petiole 0·8–4 cm. long; rhachis 0·5–1 cm. long; petiolules 1·5 mm. long; stipules filiform, 3–6 mm. long.. Inflorescences axillary, subglobose to cylindrical, 6–20-flowered, sometimes with a sub-sessile few-flowered raceme from the same axil as the pedunculate one; rhachis 0·7–3 cm. long; peduncles 0·2–5 cm. long; flowers paired but primary pedicel suppressed; secondary pedicels 1–3 mm. long; bracts and bracteoles small, linear, 1·5–5 mm. long.. Calyx covered with adpressed bristly hairs; tube 2–3 mm. long; lobes narrowly triangular, 1·5–2 mm. long, the upper pair joined for one-third to half their length.. Standard pink, red or purplish, violin-shaped or spathulate, 5–7·5 mm. long, 2·5–4·5 mm. wide, covered with adpressed silky hairs outside.. Pod oblong, 1·4–2 cm. long, 6·5–7 mm. wide, compressed, covered with lozng bristly sometimes ferruginous tubercle-based hairs.. Seeds 1–2, very dark red-brown, oblong-ovoid, longest dimension 4–5 mm., shorter dimension 2·5–3 mm., 1–1·5 mm. thick; aril usually soon breaking off.
