Characteristics

Erect or decumbent herb ± 30 cm. tall from a woody rootstock.. Stems several, covered with short spreading hairs, sometimes corky near the base.. Leaves mostly 3-foliolate but those from lowest nodes are sometimes uni-foliolate; leaflets elliptic to narrowly oblong, 4·5–11·5 cm. long, 0·7–3·2 cm. wide, rounded to subacute and mucronulate at the apex, cuneate, sparsely to densely bristly pubescent on both surfaces; venation raised beneath; petiole 5–8 mm. long; rhachis 5 mm. long; petiolules 2 mm. long; stipules linear-lanceolate, 8 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, veined.. Flowers in axillary capitate reduced panicles, 1–2·5 cm. long, 1·5 cm. wide, on peduncles 2–13 cm. long; flowers paired; primary pedicels obsolete; secondary pedicels 1·5–2 mm. long; bracts and bracteoles linear, 3–5 mm. long.. Calyx densely adpressed white pubescent; tube 2 mm. long; lobes lanceolate, 3–4 mm. long, tapering, the upper pair united for about half their length.. Standard cream, obovate-oblong, 6 mm. long, 3 mm. wide, adpressed pilose outside.. Pod oblong-elliptic, 1·2–2 cm. long, 6–7 mm. wide, flattened, apiculate, margined, covered with whitish or black bristly hairs and also some finer hairs.. Seeds not seen.
