Tree 9–15(–30) m tall with elliptic, oblong-elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate leaves, 3–9.5 cm long, 1–3.5(–4) cm wide, obtuse to acuminate at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base; flowers solitary but can appear to be in false racemes due to falling or non-development of leaves, smelling of bitter almonds; fruits green, subglobose, ± 2 cm in diameter, very fragrant.
