Characteristics

Perennial, ± 10 cm. tall, erect, branched from the base upwards.. Stem and branches terete, striate, densely furnished with upwardly appressed whitish hairs.. Leaves elliptic to ovate, 1.3–3.3 × 0.8–1.3 mm., subacute at the apex, shortly or more longly cuneate at the base with a very short petiole, moderately pilose on both surfaces with subappressed hairs.. Inflorescence a short few-flowered spike, ± 1–2 × 1 cm.; bracts narrowly lanceolate, 2–2.5 mm., green with a narrow hyaline border below, shortly pilose; bracteoles much broader, deltoid-ovate, 2–2.25 mm., hyaline, the greenish midrib excurrent in a sharp arista, glabrous.. Flowers sessile.. Tepals green, very narrowly acuminate, firm, lanceolate with 5 thick whitish nerves which are confluent above and run out into a very fine short arista; the outer 2 extremely narrowly hyaline-margined, 6 mm., densely furnished with rather stiff shortish hairs over the entire surface; inner 2 similar but 1 mm. shorter and hairy only along the midrib; middle tepal intermediate in length, pilose on one side only.. Stamens delicate, ± 2.5 mm. long; pseudostaminodes absent.. Style slender, 1.5 mm.. Capsule oblong-ovoid with a small firm apex, 2.75 mm. long.. Seeds oblong-ovoid, 2.5 mm., brown, somewhat shining, feebly reticulate.
