Subshrub 0.1–0.5 m. tall, with simple or rarely branched glabrous erect stems, the lower parts decumbent, reddish, roughened with leaf-scars.. Leaf-blades pale, obovate, oblong-obovate or narrowly to broadly elliptic, 5–18 cm. long, 2–8 cm. wide, acute to shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous; nodules situated in petiole; petiole 2.5–6 cm. long, glabrous; stipules prominently bilobed, purplish when dry, ± scarious, deciduous, the base triangular, 2–7 mm. long, the lobes acuminate, 2–4 mm. long, glabrous.. Flowers heterostylous, 5-merous, in 3–5-branched panicles, each branch with several flowers, congested, ± 7 mm. in diameter, internodes between pairs of branches 0.5–1.7 cm. long; peduncles 3–7 cm. long; pedicels 1–2 mm. long; bracts and bracteoles minute.. Calyx glabrous; tube obconic, 0.8 mm. long; limb cupular, 0.75–1 mm. long; lobes obtusely triangular, 0.5 mm. long..
