Subshrub or shrub 0.3–1.5 m. tall; young stems ± densely covered with short ± ferruginous hairs, the older stems glabrous.. Leaf-blades narrowly to broadly elliptic, 3–10 cm. long, 0.9–3.5 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous above, very shortly pubescent beneath on the main venation or ± all over the lower surface; domatia absent; nodules round, large, ± 0.5 mm. in diameter, dispersed throughout the lamina; petiole 0.2–1.5 cm. long, shortly densely hairy; stipules 5–7 mm. long, the base narrowly ovate-triangular, markedly bilobed, the lobes narrow, acuminate, 2.5–4 mm. long, glabrous or puberulous.. Flowers heterostylous, 5-merous, in graceful panicles 2–5 cm. long; peduncles 1–3 cm. long, slender, shortly pubescent; secondary peduncles up to 1.2 cm. long; pedicels slender, 2–3 mm. long; bracts linear-triangular, 2 mm. long.. Calyx-tube campanulate, 0.5 mm. long, glabrous or pubescent; calyx-limb ± 0.5 mm. long, the lobes broadly triangular (Petit’s reference to calyx-tube 3 mm. long must be an error).. Buds glabrous..
