Leaf-blades elliptic, oblong-elliptic or obovate-elliptic to oblanceolate, 8–16 cm. long, 2.5–6 cm. wide, acute to shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous, ± coriaceous, usually drying a russet-brown; venation ± prominent above in dried material; nodules and domatia absent; petiole 0.7–3 cm. long, glabrous; stipules ovate, 0.7–1(–1.7) cm. long, entire and obtuse, glabrous but fringed with ferruginous hairs, deciduous, hairy within the base.. Flowers? heterostylous, 5-merous, in much-branched panicles 6–10 cm. long; peduncles 2–5 cm. long, glabrous or slightly puberulous towards apex; secondary branches 0.5–3 cm. long, glabrous to densely finely pubescent; pedicels 0–3 mm. long, finely pubescent; main bracts clasping the stem, ± 2 mm. long, rest small or minute.. Calyx-tube campanulate, 1 mm. long, puberulous; limb cupuliform, glabrous or finely puberulous, 0.75 mm. long; lobes rounded-triangular, 0.5 mm. long, finely puberulous.. Corolla “yellowish-white”, “white and pale pink” or “reddish”, glabrous outside; tube ± 2 mm. long; lobes oblong-triangular, 1.5 mm. long, 0.9 mm. wide, thickened at the apex.. Stamens with filaments 0.2 mm. long in short-styled flowers.. Style ± 1 mm. long in short-styled flowers; stigma-lobes ± 0.5 mm. long.. Drupes orange-red, with 2 pyrenes, sub-globose, ± 6 mm. in diameter, glabrous, ± grooved; pyrenes semiglobose, 5 mm. long and wide, 2.5–3 mm. thick, with ventral surface plane, dorsal surface 5-grooved.. Seeds flattened ventrally, dorsally 6-ribbed; albumen ruminate.
