Shrubs to 4 m tall, the branchlets slender, terete, glabrous, the terminal nodes often crowded. Leaves oblanceolate, 4-7 cm long, 1.6-3.2 cm wide, the costa slender, plane or grooved above, prominulous beneath, the lateral veins ca. 8, delicate and often wrinkled when dry, stiffly chartaceous, glabrous, smooth be-neath when dry, the margin delicately revolute; petioles to 0.35 cm long; stipules deciduous, ovate or trapezoid, to 4 mm long, ca. 2 mm wide at the base, bilobed apically, the awns about as long as the body, glabrous. Inflorescences terminal, solitary, paniculate, 3.0-4.5 cm long, glabrous, the peduncles 1.5-2.0(-3.0) cm long, terminating in 2-4 branches disposed radially, to 0.9 cm long, the flowers few; bracts triangular, to 1 mm long. Flowers sessile or almost sessile; hypan-thium rotund, 0.5-1.0 mm long, the calycine cup to 0.4 mm long, glabrate outside, glabrous and ?eglandular within, the teeth 5, triangular, to 0.6 mm long; corolla white, the tube cylindrical, to 2 mm long, glabrous outside, white villose near the mouth, the lobes oblong, 1.2-1.5 mm long, glabrous; stamens 5, exserted or included in the tube, the anthers 0.6-0.8 mm long, the filaments short, attached near the mouth; style to 1 mm long, dilated near the stigmatic area, the stigmas minute. Fruits bright red, subrotund, ca. 4 mm in diam., often scabrous, the ventral face of the endocarp plane, the dorsal face 5-costate.
