Perennial herb about (5–)10–15 cm. tall, the lower part of the mostly simple stem decumbent, the leafy apical parts erect, shortly rather densely pubescent.. Leaf-blades rather glaucous blue-green, oblong-obovate, oblong-elliptic or ovate, (3–)4.5–11 cm. long, (1.5–)3–4.6 cm. wide, broadly subacute or almost rounded at the apex, cordate at the base, glabrous above, shortly pubescent on the nerves beneath, the margin irregularly and minutely undulate-crenulate; nodules very inconspicuous; petiole 0.5–3 cm. long, pubescent; stipules prominently bilobed, scarious, persistent, the bases triangular, 5–6 mm. long with 2 pubescent ribs extending into the linear acuminate lobes which are 3–8 mm. long.. Flowers heterostylous, (4–)5-merous, in terminal few-flowered subcapitate panicles, 0.5–1 cm. long and wide; peduncles 1.5–5 cm. long, densely pubescent; pedicels 1–2 mm. long.. Calyx-tube 2 mm. long, 0.8 mm. wide, puberulous, the free part ± glabrescent, 1 mm. long; lobes triangular, 0.5 mm. long.. Corolla white, glabrous outside; tube 3–3.5 mm. long, 1.2 mm. wide at the base, 2.8 mm. wide at the apex, with a ring of hairs inside near the insertion of the filaments; lobes oblong-lanceolate, 2–2.8 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide.. Stamens included in long-styled flowers.. Style (1.5–)2–2.1 mm. long; stigmas filiform, (0.5–)1 mm. long, papillate.. Drupes depressed-ellipsoid, 4.5–5 mm. tall, 4–5 mm. wide, with a median rib, crowned by the persistent calyx, containing 2 pyrenes, slightly pubescent or glabrous.. Seeds similar in shape to the pyrenes, 3 mm. long and wide, dorsally convex, ventrally slightly concave, rugulose, or where only one seed develops, subglobose 4–4.5 × 3.5–4 mm.; albumen not ruminate.
