Characteristics

Leaves deciduous, restricted to apex of lateral branches or sometimes clustered on very reduced lateral spurs; blades 3–6 × 1.2–3 cm, elliptic, obtuse or sometimes subacuminate at apex, acute at base, membranous, glabrous to sparsely pubescent on both surfaces; lateral nerves in 3–4 main pairs; tertiary nerves obscure to apparent, rather coarsely reticulate; domatia pocket-like, ciliate; petioles 3–8 mm long, glabrous to pubescent; stipules 1–2 mm long, triangular.

Corolla white; tube 2.75–3 mm long, somewhat pubescent inside but lacking a well defined ring of deflexed hairs; lobes 2.5–3 × 1.25–1.5 mm, oblong, obtuse.
Shrub, slender tree or climber 1–3.5 m tall, with patent or almost patent lateral branches; young stems glabrous or pubescent; bark mid-to light grey.
Flowers 4-merous, borne in 10–40-flowered sessile umbels; pedicels 5–8 mm long, glabrous to pubescent.
Fruit 7 × 10 × 3 mm, broadly oblong in outline, scarcely indented at apex, black when mature.
Calyx tube 1 mm long, glabrous to densely pubescent; limb 1.75 mm long, repand, ciliate.
Pollen presenter 1 × 0.75 mm long, scarcely ribbed; disk glabrous.
Pyrene 7 × 4 × 3 mm, rugulose.
Style 6.5–8 mm long.
