Tree 4 m tall, the trunk to 10 cm d.b.h., the young branches yellowish-brown appressed-sericeous with trichomes contiguous, soon glabrate, the internodes 1.5-3.0 mm long near the apex. Leaves opposite, coriaceous, clustered at the ends of the branchlets, obovate-elliptic, obtuse to acute or acuminate at the apex, narrowly cuneate at the base, (3.5-)4.5-6.5 cm long, (1.1-)2.0-3.5 cm wide, en-tire, sparsely pilose to appressed-pubescent above with slender, somewhat flex-uous T-shaped trichomes, becoming glabrate, the lower surface paler, subap-pressed-villous; primary lateral veins 6 or 7 on each side, gradually curved to the margins, the reticulate veins prominent, drying paler than the surface, the surface weakly viscidulous; petioles 6-10 mm long, subterete, appressed-pubescent, stip-ules 2-3 mm long, axillary, coalesced to petiole ca. 2/3 of their length, triangular, acute to narrowly rounded at the apex, densely subappressed villose. Cymes axillary to leaf scars, shorter than the leaves; flowers ca. 14 mm in diameter; pedicels 15-20 mm long, drying ca. 1 mm in diam., rigid, densely subappressed villous; bracts oblong-triangular, ca. 2 mm long, acute at the apex, villose outside, glabrous within; calyx 10 mm in diam., the sepals triangular or ovate, 4-5 mm long, 3.0-3.5 mm wide, subappressed-sericeous, the calycine glands thick, ob-long-elliptic, 2-3 mm long, 1 mm in diam., well spaced or sometimes close; petals white, 7-8 mm long, 5.0-5.5 mm wide, the limb thick, obovate, rounded and entire at the apex, narrowed and weakly incised dentate below to lyrate, glabrous adaxially, villous along the midrib abaxially at least in the lower 1/3, the claw thick, ca. 1.5 mm long, barbate at the base, densely sericeous on the lower side; stamens 10, shorter than the sepals, the filaments thickened, flattened, 2.5-3.2 mm long, subulate towards the apex, shortly triangular-dilated at the base, the basal 1/4 hirsute-barbate, the trichomes to 1 mm long; anthers ellipsoid, ca. 1.5 mm long, the connective thickened, protruded apically, the lateral wings of the thecae papillate, 0.3 mm wide. Fruits tricoccoid, 3-lobed, the cocci monosper-mous, indehiscent, subglobose, cartilaginous, rounded on the outside, obtusely triangular on inside, 3.5 mm in diam., densely reddish brown-hirsute, the scar ca. 2 mm in diam., the styles free, subulate, affixed adaxially to the base of the carpel; seed globose, the integument membranaceous; cotyledons contorted, con-volutely spiraled inward, torus flat, hirsute.
