Flowers: inflorescence of 1 sessile and 1-6 stalked spikelet clusters; glumes 1.0-1.2 mm long, conspicuously mucronate, greyish green to reddish brown; Feb.-Apr. Fruit an obovate to elliptic nutlet, dark grey, with minute tubercles in longitudinal rows.
