Cultivation

Origin: in Yakima, Wash., by Walter H. Eller. Introd. in 1954. Discovered in 1942. Plant patent 1184; 12 May 1953; assigned to Eller Pear Co. Yakima. Bud mutation of Bartlett. Tree: claimed to have some fire blight resistance; productive; said to bloom earlier and have less second bloom than Bartlett. Appears to be no different than other Bartlett clones in bloom and ripe dates at the pear germplasm collection in Corvallis, Ore. Fruit: flavor good; resembles Bartlett; good keeping qualities; claimed to ripen 4 to 5 weeks before Bartlett.
