Origin: in Geneva, N.Y., by Richard Wellington, New York State Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1925. Winter Nelis × Russet Bartlett; cross made in 1912. Tree: spreading; vigorous and productive. Fruit: skin color duller than Bartlett; flesh juicy, tender, pleasant vinous flavor; ripens 1 month later than Bartlett, and keeping until Christmas.
