Trees to 10 m tall, evergreen. Branchlets thin, finely striate, sparsely stellate tomentose, grayish with age, glabrescent. Petiole thin, 2-5 mm, glabrescent; leaf blade ovate, elliptic-lanceolate, or obovate, 2.5-5.5 × 1.5-2.5 cm, thinly leathery, abaxially greenish and with stellate hairs in axil of secondary veins, adaxially brightly green and sparsely stellate on midvein, base cuneate and decurrent on petiole, margin glandular serrulate, apex shortly mucronate; secondary veins 9-11 on each side of midvein, slender, evident, adaxially impressed; tertiary veins abaxially conspicuous. Infructescence with 1 or 2 cupules; rachis ca. 5 mm thick, with stellate hairs. Cupule bowl-shaped, 6-7 mm in diam., enclosing ca. 1/3 of nut; bracts ovate, ca. 1 mm, crowded, densely yellowish brown tomentose. Nut ovoid to narrowly ellipsoid, ca. 10 × 7 mm, brown, glabrous but apex with filiform hairs and acuminate; scar ca. 2 mm in diam., raised; stylopodium ca. 1 mm in diam., easily broken. Fl.
