Characteristics

Plants stoloniferous. Petiole 12-32 cm; leaves entire; floating or aerial leaves ovate to ovate-elliptic, 3-4.5 × 3-3.5 cm, base subcordate, apex subacute. Flowers 1-3 at apex of scape; bracts 2, spatulate, ca. 7 mm. Sepals broadly elliptic, ca. 5 mm. Petals obovate-elliptic, usually ca. as long as sepals. Stamens ca. 2.5 mm; anthers elliptic. Carpels crowded, with an apical, persistent style; receptacle oblong. Achenes ± obtriangular; beak 3-5 mm. Fl. and fr. Aug-Sep. 2n = 22*.
