Characteristics

Perennial herb, with stems up to 2.4 dm. long, with usually 3 to 4 flowers.. Basal leaves trifoliolate, the terminal and lateral leaflets with petiolules up to 3.5 cm. long; leaflets broadly ovate to oblate in general outline, more or less trilobed and coarsely toothed, terminal 0.9–2.5 cm. long, 1.0–2.9 cm. broad; with adpressed hairs on both surfaces, ciliate at the margins; petiole up to 1.4 dm. long.. Sepals reflexed, sparsely hairy on the outer surface, glabrous on the inner surface.. Petals yellow, up to 7 mm. long.. Achenes in spherical heads but sometimes only a few produced from one flower, 4.5 mm. long, with a nearly straight beak.. Fig. 4/6, (p. 17).
