Characteristics

Perennial herb with a ± woody rootstock with numerous decumbent or ascending branches up to 40 cm long. Young stem spreading-or sometimes appressed-tomentose, occasionally whitish. Leaves unifoliolate; petiole 2-5(6) mm long, pubescent; leaflet varying from c. 7 x 7 cm and orbicular, to 4(4.5) x 2(2.4) cm and elliptic, rounded to cuneate at the base, obtuse to truncate at the apex, both surfaces closely appressed-pubescent to somewhat sparsely spreading-pubescent. Calyx (1.5)2-3 mm long, appressed-pubescent. Petals purple or pinkish; standard (4)5-6 mm long. Pod (6)7-9(10) x 2.5-3.5 mm, fairly densely spreading pubescent or sometimes appressed-pubescent or villous.
