Characteristics

Stamens 5, free, alternating with the petals; filaments subulate; anthers oblong. Ovary unilocular; style eccentric, filiform, persistent; stigma small, capitate or discoid; ovules 2, pendulous. Fruit a drupe flattened through the longitudinal axis.
