Plants yellowish-green or yellowish, often glossy, stem creeping, irregularly and densely branched, branches erect, about 5 mm long. Stem in cross section with 1-2 cortical layers of small, thick-walled cells, gradually passing into 3-4 layers of medullary cells, central strand distinct. Branch leaves erecto-patent to patent, narrowly triangular to ovate-lanceolate, longly and narrowly acuminate, shallowly channelled, 0.5-1.5 mm long, 0.1-0.2(0.3) mm wide; margin flat, entire or denticulate in upper half. Stem leaves slightly larger than branch leaves and more triangular. Upper and median lamina cells vermicular, (50)70-120(140) µm long, 4-8(10) µm wide; basal cells shorter, elongate-rhombic; angular cells consisting of up to 7 irregular or rectangular cells, indistinct. Nerve faint, fading at (1/3)1/2-2/3 of the length of the leaf, 20-30(35) µm wide at base, occupying 1/5-1/6(1/7) the leaf width; in cross section consisting of 3 layers of small, thick-walled homogeneous cells. Seta more or less rough to more rarely smooth. Spores 14-22 µm in their longest diameter, smooth to faintly rough.
