Characteristics

Dwarf shrub or shrub, up to 1.5 m high. Stems: scrambling; old stems nude, bark rough; young stems smooth with ridges. Leaves bifoliolate, leaflets asymmetrical, obovate, ovate or elliptic, 11-26 x 4-7 mm, base narrowed, apex rounded or acute; petioles 1-4 mm long. Stipules narrowly triangular. Flowers solitary or 2 together. Sepals 5, ovate or obovate. Petals 5, widely obovate, 13-14 x 6-8 mm, apex rounded, emarginate, undulate, claw short; cream-coloured or yellow, base variously marked red, deep yellow or brown. Flowering time Mar.-Nov. Fruit drooping, oblong, 12-26 x 9-14 mm, 5-winged, wings 2 mm wide.
