Characteristics

Shrub, up to 1.5 m high. Stems: old stems grey, young stems pale green, smooth. Leaves petiolate, bifoliolate; leaflets obovate, 25-43 x 16-30 mm, base oblique, apex rounded; petioles 6-20 mm long. Stipules triangular, membranous. Flowers solitary or 2 together, axillary. Sepals 5, ovate or obovate. Petals 5, obovate, 15-22 x 7-12 mm, base with a short claw, apex obtuse; deep yellow with red or brown markings at base. Flowering time June-Dec. Fruit drooping, subspheroid, 8-12 x 6-10 mm, 5-lobed each with a bony ridge.
