Characteristics

Shrub, up to 1 m high, Stems: old stems grey, bark rough, young stems smooth. Leaves petiolate, bifoliolate; leaflets obovate, 8-17 x 5-6 mm, base oblique, apex obtuse. Stipules widely triangular. Flowers solitary. Sepals 5, ovate or obovate. Petals 5, suborbicular or widely obovate, 8-11 x 3-6 mm, base with a short claw, apex rounded, emarginate; pale yellow with reddish brown, rhombic markings at base. Fruit erect, subspheroid 6-7 x 6-8 mm, 5-winged, wings reticulately veined, 2-3 mm wide. Flowering time all year.

Fruit a subspheroid, 5-winged capsule, 6-7 mm long; wings reticulate, apex and base usually retuse.
