Characteristics

Dwarf shrub. Stems: old stems nude, bark rough, grey, cracked, young branches scrambling, up to 2 m long, smooth, leafy. Leaves petiolate, bifoliolate; leaflets obovate or elliptic, 14-19 x 5-10, base cuneate, apex rounded or acute; petioles 1-3 mm long. Stipules narrowly triangular, reflexed. Flowers solitary or 2 together, axillary; pedicels 8-25 mm long. Sepals 5, ovate or obovate. Petals 5, widely obovate, 11-14 x 7-9 mm, apex obtuse or emarginate, base short-clawed, cream-coloured or yellow; base markings darker yellow, red or brown. Flowering time Mar.-Nov. Fruit drooping, oblong or spheroid, 12-15 x 10-13 mm, sutures visible, sunny side brick-coloured.
