Inflorescence a terminal panicle up to 10 cm long, formed by opposite cymes; rhachis densely hairy; peduncles hairy, up to 5 cm long; pedicels up to 2.5 mm long; cymes few-flowered, the lowermost in the axils of the upper leaves, the rest subtended by foliaceous bracts, becoming progressively smaller towards the apex.
Calyx 4–5 mm long, blackish on drying, appressed hairy mainly on the tube; lobes c. 1.75 mm long, triangular, acute or subacute, separated by wide sinuses, only slightly enlarged after anthesis.
Petiole up to 2 cm long, winged; the wings up to 5 mm wide, undulate, similar to the lamina in texture, colour and indumentum, each wing expanded at the base into a broad, rounded auricle.
Stems simple, somewhat thick, cylindric or c. 4-angular, densely hairy towards the apex, glabrescent and striate below.
Corolla limb when in bud glabrous; corolla lobes not ciliate.
A many-stemmed perennial herb, or shrub(?).
Fruit 7–10 mm long, black.
Anthers 1.25–1.5 mm long.
