Characteristics

Almost glabrous herb, stems 15-30 cm. Leaves 6-11 by 2.25-3 cm, oblong-elliptic, ± acuminate, base cuneate, entire but the veins protruding as small callose-fimbriate teeth; nerves c. 8 pairs, arching; petioles 1-3.5 cm. Flowers inserted at about the middle of the midrib. Pedicels c. 5 mm. Calyx tube 1.5-2 by 2 mm, lobes lanceolate, acute, 2-3 mm, both warty. Corolla tube 0.5-1 mm; posterior lobes 9 by 0.5 mm, at least twice as long as the anterior ones, narrow-spathulate, broadened at the base, acute; anterior lobes 3.5-4 by 2-2.5 mm, ovate, acute, connate up to the middle, at the inside near the posterior lobes somewhat pilose, further glabrous. Androecium 2.5-3.5 mm long; anthers 1-1.5 mm, posterior ones dorsally +-hairy. Seeds verruculose.
