Characteristics

Shrub to 3 m. tall; stems slender, densely spreading pubescent when young but soon glabrous and covered with brown rather ridged corky bark.. Leaf-blades ovate or ± elliptic, 3.5–8 cm. long, 1.5–5.8 cm. wide, rounded to acute or mostly shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate to ± truncate at the base, discolorous, green and adpressed pubescent above, softly grey velvety beneath with matted hairs which obscure the surface; petiole 4–6 mm. long; stipules with basal triangular parts 3 mm. long, connate, pubescent but becoming glabrous and persistent, bearing a filiform pubescent ± spreading apical appendage about 5 mm. long.. Cymes 1–2-flowered, pubescent; peduncle 2–2.5 mm. long; pedicels 3–4 mm. long; bracts not developed.. Calyx-tube obconic, 2 mm. long, with 8 minute lobes ± 0.5 mm. long.. Corolla green; tube funnel-shaped, 3.5 mm. long, with a ring of tangled long hairs inside; lobes lanceolate, 5.5 mm. long including the apical 1.5–2 mm. long appendage, with scattered spreading hairs outside.. Ovary 2-locular; style 6 mm. long, swollen below; stigmatic club coroniform, ± 1 mm. long, grooved.. Fruit not known.
