Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 3 m.; young branches with dense short yellow hairs but soon merely pubescent or glabrescent; internodes often congested.. Leaf-blades oblong or ± elliptic, 2–8 cm. long, 1–3.7 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, slightly discolorous, densely yellow hairy when young but eventually pubescent mostly only on the nerves; domatia small, hidden by hairs on midrib; petiole 3–5 mm. long; stipule-sheath ± 2 mm. long, pubescent, with pubescent subulate appendages 4–6 mm. long.. Flowers solitary; pedicels 2 mm. long, slightly accrescent in fruit to ± 5 mm.. Calyx hairy; tube obconic, 1.5 mm. long; lobes ± 10, linear-triangular, 1–2.5 mm. long, shortly densely pilose.. Buds with divaricate tails.. Corolla white, hairy; tube campanulate, ± 2.5 mm. long, inside at throat with sparse deflexed hairs, otherwise glabrous; lobes oblong-elliptic, 4 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, with subulate subapical oblique slightly curved setulose-pilosulose appendages 3 mm. long.. Ovary 2-locular; style 4 mm. long; stigmatic club subglobose, 1.2 mm. in diameter, sulcate basally, bilobed at apex.. Fruits (only 1-seeded ones seen) narrowly obovoid-ellipsoid, 10 mm. long, 4–5 mm. wide, sparsely pubescent.
